Demand PepsiCo Reverse Decision to Stop GLP-1 Coverage

Here’s the Issue: PepsiCo is ending coverage of GLP-1 prescription medications used for weight loss beginning in October. The company has pointed to rising costs as the reason for the change, while GLP-1 medications will continue to be covered for other conditions.

Employers face real challenges managing healthcare costs, but employees living with obesity should not be asked to absorb the solution by losing access to treatment. Obesity is a complex, chronic disease, and restricting coverage for its treatment while continuing to cover the same class of GLP-1 medications for another condition creates an inequitable standard of care and reinforces weight bias.
