I went to my doctor to ask for help because I was having knee pain. Despite an x-ray that showed no arthritic changes, my doctor told me that my pain would resolve if I lost weight. He performed no physical exam and didn’t ask me about my symptoms. He would not give me a referral to another doctor for diagnosis, and he discouraged me from getting further tests to determine the cause of the pain.
